Ha’azeenu – Listen

This week’s Torah reading comes immediately after Rosh Hashona and is called Ha’azeenu – Listen. As it falls between Rosh Hashona and Yom Kippur this Shabbos is also referred to as Shabbos Shuva. The Shabbos that we again return and get close to the Al-mighty.

In the Torah Reading of this amazing song sung by Moshe before his death is the phrase I put to death and I bring life. I struck down and I will heal. Judaism is very clear. Other nations had a false god of doing bad, killing or causing illness. They needed another god to do good such as bringing life and healing. Judaism claims to all there is only one G-d who does all. Good as we see it and bad as we see it.

We see within ourselves that we can walk what appears to be two opposite paths. However we are one person. Thus we can ultimately choose to just do that which is good. We ask the Al-mighty, just as we are choosing to openly do good can you please do the same and do that which is openly good.

We all pray that this openly good will reveal the 3rd Temple that we anxiously wait for and all the blessings that come with it.
