Nitzaveem – Vayailech, Standing – And He Went

The Torah portion this week is called Nitzaveem – Vayailech, Standing – And He Went. Nittzaveem – Standing is always read before Rosh Hashona (Standing in Judgement before the Al-mighty). Sometimes it is together with a second section, Vayailech – And He Went, as it is this year. This Saturday night we also say Slichos, a special section for inspiring the feeling to do Teshuva – Repent.

In the Torah Reading we see how Moshe stresses the importance of doing the right thing and that true life and living is based on this. In our daily lives we face constant conflicts and are left with choices. Moshe is telling us if we wish to live the good life, then choose the right path to follow. Torah is our true guide. If we can instill in ourselves a love and fear for the Al-mighty this will help aid us in making the right choice.

Moshe tells us that this is not out of our reach. Each and everyone of us has the ability to choose the correct path or action. Often things look like they are impossible to overcome. However, if we take the correct approach we find that the barriers fall down and we are able to achieve the correct objectives. We just have to make the effort based on our inner love and fear of the Al-mighty. March forward and we will succeed Moshe is telling us. Let us usher in the New Year with positive actions that lead to the total fulfillment of our redemption and the building of the 3rd and final Bais Hamikdosh.
