Key Savo – When You Will Come

This week’s Torah Reading is called Key Savo – When You Will Come. This Shabbos, the 18th of Elul, is also special because it is the birthday of the Baal Shem Tov and the Alter Rebbe. Thus on one hand when we will read the lengthy amount of curses listed in this Torah Reading. These allude to the destruction of the 2nd Temple and the lengthy exile we are now in. On the other hand we are going to celebrate the birthday of these two holy Rabbis. They laid the foundation for the future redemption, the stress on the Mitzvah – The Commandment; To Love a Fellow Jew.

Just before we get to the lengthy list of curses there are listed a couple of more blessings. You Will Be the Head and Not the Tail and You Will Be Only the Top and Not the Bottom. This implies when doing the Commandments, the will of the Al-mighty everyone looks at us, all the nations of the world view us as the Head and truly Above all other nations. In this day and age it is important that we keep this in mind. When dealing with various world situations it is important to ask and have answered what does Torah say is correct. Then act accordingly and not worry what the Nations of the World will say. We will ultimately be viewed as the Head and the Top. The same is in are own daily personal lives. When we act according to Torah, even though it may at first look odd, we will ultimately be considered the Top and the Head.
