Pinchas _ Pinchas

This week’s Torah Reading is Pinchas.  Pinchas, for his positive action, is awarded by being made a Cohen.  We also know that Pinchas is Eliyahoo the prophet.  Eliyahoo  appears at every Passover Seder and circumcision.  He will also announce the final redemption.

It is interesting to note that just as in life, Pinchas occupies a major position, appearing often throughout our history, so too, in his section called Pinchas, we find all the various Torah Readings that take place on the Three Major Festivals, Pesach, Succos and Shavuous.  Also included in the Torah Reading of Pinchas is the Torah Reading for Rosh Chodesh, the New Month, and Shabbos Rosh Chodesh, when the New Month falls out on Shabbos..  Rosh Hashona and Yom Kippur have their Torah Readings includied also in the Parsha of Pinchas.

Thus Pinchas contains it all.  Perhaps a reason for this is that by the attitude Pinchas displayed in killing Zimri, motivated  purely by Torah, showed that he was a pure vessel fit for service in the Holy Temple.  Thus he became a Cohen and later Eliyahoo the Prophet who appears every time there is a special bound made with the Al-mighty, either the circumcision or the Pesach Seder.   The climax will be the bound that will take place with the building of the 3rd Temple.
