Vi Zos HaBrocha – And This Is The Blessing

The Torah Reading of the final portion, called Vi Zos HaBrocha – And This is the Blessing, is not actually read on Shabbos. It is read on the Yom Tov of Simchas Torah. We finish reading the entire Torah then and we dance and celebrate.

The Torah was a special gift to the entire Jewish Nation. We celebrate it as is well known, not by intensive study, but by the Torah still being wrapped and we dancing with it.

During the year it has been our studying and our obeying the Torah that has supported us. On this day, when we read the final portion, Vi Zos HaBrocha – And This is the Blessing, it is we that support the Torah so to speak, by being its legs so the Torah can dance.

Indeed this is the special blessing that Torah supports us and that we support Torah, a marriage so to speak. This is the actual analogy that is used to describe the Al-mighty as the Groom coming to meet the Bride, the Jewish Nation, at Har Sinai – Mt. Sinai.

To complete the analogy, hopefully we can all live together once again in the same “House”, the 3rd Bais Hamikdosh in this New Year.
