Ha’ azeenu – You Listen

This week’s Torah Reading is called Ha’azeenu. A special song that Moshe sang and taught the Jewish people before his death. It is also called Shabbos Teshuva as it falls between Rosh Hashona and Yom Kippur.

The song concludes with very powerful and promising words. Harneenu Goyeem Amo – O nations, sing the praises of His people, Kee Dam Avadav Yeekom – for He will avenge the blood of His servants, Vinakam Yasheev Liztarav – and He will bring retribution upon His foes, Vicheeper Admaso Amo – and He will appease His land and His people.

This final sentence is interesting to note. This statement is a concluding statement of various events that will happen in the future. This positive announcement is not dependent on any action, it is purely a statement of a final fact. The Al-mighty will redeem His people, Teshuva – repentance can hasten this event, and hopefully we will merit to accomplish this task as we enter Shabbos Teshuva, – but the final end is foretold. The Al-might will appease His land and His people.

Hopefully this will happen as we enter the New Year where we can see our land and our nation appeased with the building of the 3rd Temple in Jerusalem and the gathering of all the Jewish nation from the 4 corners of the world.
