Emor – Omer

This week’s Torah reading has a run down of the holidays we celebrate as well as the counting of the Omer.  We are beyond the half way point in counting the Omer.  Each day we get closer to receiving the Torah on Mt. Sinai.  It was only 50 days from the Exodus of Egypt to Shavuoth, standing at Mt. Sinai.  The Jewish nation was fast tracked to be able to receive the Tablets and experience the Revelation at Mt. Sinai.

There are times when we should fast track towards an important goal in life.  Though we may have left some things in our rush to achieve, the reward is great.  We should revisit and repair or fill in those areas that are required at some later point.

The Jewish nation will spend 40 years wondering in the desert to repair and fill in those things that are necessary.  We too, have spent almost 2000 years in exile, this has been more than enough time to fill in those things that may have needed attention.

Each day, as we count the Omer, let us hope that we get closer to the ultimate final revelation, the end of Exile and the building to the 3rd Beis Hamikdosh
